About Zoë Lane
Driven by perpetual curiosity, misplaced nostalgia, and a love of the surreal, Zoë Lane explores the overt and covert influences that shape Earth’s humans into who they eventually become. Her critical explorations of perception and pedagogy result in quirky, often humorous creations that recontextualize everyday objects and illuminate their outsized roles in shaping thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and bodies.

Working frequently with yards and yards of twisting metal wire, boxy old TVs, vintage Barbie Dolls, and countless googly-eyes, her work often examines the passive consumption of entertainment, media and technology, confronting them as integral (and integrated) parts of identity formation and projection. The act of transforming these objects into sculptures creates a joyfully ironic turning of the tables in which the artist finds herself manipulating the very things that have themselves been so manipulative. This is her Happy Place. Welcome.
